We shall be grateful for the Ministry's interpretation of paragraphs 4(b) and (c) "Additions to the Scales for Qualified Assistant Teachers" in the Report of the Burnham Committee on Scales of Salaries for Teachers in Primary and Secondary Schools.
In Hong Kong the salaries of assisted school teachers are approved for grant in accordance with the Burnham scales, and the question has arisen whether the further increase of the maximum by two increments in paragraph 4(c) can be added to the maximum increase of three increments allowed by paragraph 4(b), making
a possible total increase of five increments for graduate teachers who have spent five years or more in obtaining their degrees and in being trained.
Yours sincerely,
